JD.com Launches Blockchain Research Lab
JD.com, an online website created by Jingdong, has created a research lab for blockchain technologies. They will be partnering with the Ying Wu College of Computing at (NJIT) and the Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
JD.com has only continued to expand and gain more notoriety with their simple online ordering system, quick delivery, and many different products. Now they will be using a research lab as they made the announcement at an event in Beijing and will be it to solve issues with blockchain and learn about new technology.
Various professors from both NJIT and ISCAS, who are knowledgeable about blockchain and cryptography, will be leading the way. The president of JD’s big data and smart supply chain named Dr. Jian Pei states in the blog from JD about how they were so interested in blockchain and wanted to make contributions to it and technology along with it. The company believes that the partnerships will make them a stronger brand and help them develop new technology.

JD.com has already allowed customers to use blockchain back in August where customers can build and use their own blockchain applications. It is called the JD Blockchain Open Platform and allows customers to contribute their own blockchain and even host it.
